BEHIND THE LENS

My name is Cynthia Bullard and I'm very happy to meet you, even if it is over text or e-mail. I want to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself and why photography is such a passion of mine.

I'll begin by telling you that in my daily life, I play a lot of roles. I'm a mother, a step-mother, a wife to a 24 year Veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and a family law paralegal.  I have two dogs (who think they rule our household) and a son who keeps our family constantly involved in sports.  Yet one of my greatest passions is photography.

I began learning photography the old fashion way - by getting out and shooting.  My formal education towards obtaining an Associates Degree ended when I became captivated with a single course in 35mm black and white film photography while attending Ventura College.  My apartment bathroom turned into my darkroom.  Since an expensive education was not in my budget after high school, I completed a variety of photography courses over the years, taking online courses with professional photographers, authors and writers including Sandy Puc, Sue Bryce and Rob Sheppard.  In 2012, I completed one year mentorship program with Orange County professional portrait and wedding photographer Paul Gero.

Over the years, I have had the pleasure of photographing every subject matter, from the beautiful landscapes of Yosemite, to the wildlife scenery of Yellowstone, from gorgeous weddings on the grounds of the LDS Temple in Los Angeles, to newborn babies at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura. Through those experiences, I have found my true passion with photography lies primarily in photographing people.  Today, I'm proud to say that I've had hundreds of fabulous faces step in front of my lens allowing me to document the tender faces of babies, the laughter of children, the seriousness and quirkiness of teenagers, and the special bonds between family members.

Boudoir photography is a new endeavor in my journey to document the beauty and sensuality of the women that surround us, regardless of age, size or nationality.  All women are beautiful, sexy and timeless.  My goal in every session is to capture classy, sensual and sexy portraits of these gorgeous women.  Comfort and trust is key in the relationship between a woman and her boudoir photographer. From the moment of our first contact, until the time your final product is complete, your experience with me as your photographer will be an enjoyable one.

It is my hope that sharing a little about me with you brings to light my passion, professionalism, trustiworthiness, and more importantly, my expertise behind the lens.  I know that you have many choices for your photography needs.  As I build life-long relationships with my clients and pay special attention to their specific needs, I truly believe your photo sessions with me will stand above the rest.  Come see for yourself!

In November 2016, I too went through the process of a boudoir session with a very good friend of mine.  I felt that, even though I was not totally comfortable in my own skin - believing I need to lose another 20 pounds, it was important for me to really understand what my boudoir clients go through during their sessions.  Alyssa Armstrong did a wonderful job and I was very pleased with the results.  Thank you Alyssa!
